Monica Holzemer, from Palm Beach Gardens, FL, is an extremely inspiring senior. Unfortunately, at the young age of 50, Monica had a stroke and was unable to receive the proper care she needed, leaving the left half of her body paralyzed. Prior to her stroke, she was extremely active, with a passion for adventure. Her wish is to be able to go scuba diving again.

Monica loved to run, swim, bike, horseback ride, and do yoga. She still bikes (by laying down and pedaling with one foot) 15 miles a day. In addition, Monica was an avid scuba diver and believes that she belongs underwater. She feels fully alive underwater and loves the peacefulness of the ocean. She is extremely passionate about ocean and shark conservation.

After her stroke, Monica was told she would never be able to dive again. She is constantly testing her limitations and challenging what her doctors say. She wants to feel alive again, and for Monica, this means getting back in the water. Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale are more than excited to be able to make this happen for her. Before the end of the summer, Monica and her best friend will scuba dive off the coast of the Florida Keys.

In addition, with the help of the Handicap Scuba Association and Mark Rausch, owner of Poseidon Scuba Adventures, fitting for a woman who is nothing short of miraculous herself.
